Domain

Welcome to colindiem.com So, as I mentioned in my previous post, I knew I was going to need to pick up a domain sooner or later. So I went ahead and did it! I may pick up some more in the future, I’m not sure. That will probably depend a lot on if I can figure out how to configure virtual hosts on apache. Or if I can figure out how to have a DNS record point to a port.

Been a While

It’s been a minute Boy, time flies. It feels like it wasn’t that long ago that I was tinkering around with this blog regularly, but it’s been a month and a half since I posted! Today I messed around with my dynamic DNS, and started using a new host name: http://errantmind.ddns.net! I still haven’t bothered to pick up my own domain yet, but as I am leaning more and more towards a self-hosted future, I will probably have to make that jump soon.

Convergence

Convergence Convergence is the idea that at some point, our phones will become our computers. I like this idea. We’re already carrying this decently powerful computer around in our pockets, why not be able to use them to power a “laptop” style chasis? Why stop there? We could have a desktop style setup, with a graphics card, extra storage, heck better memory, and even additional CPU power. When you’re ready to hit the road, pop the phone out of the dock, and slide into the special slot on a tablet type device, and the same system you’re already using is now your tablet.

Self hosting gitea

I decided to start self-hosting my code I setup gitea on my raspberry pi 4 this evening to try hosting my own code repository for fun. Setup went alright. Configuring postgres took a bit, and after I installed gitea, it wasn’t working, I couldn’t connect to the server. I poked around for a while, and eventually realized that along the way to finding a solution, I had started trying to connect on localhost on my desktop, which was never going to work since gitea was hosted on my raspberry pi.

Manjaro

Time for a change of pace So, I recently decided it was time for a change. I decided to dual boot Manjaro alongside my normal Windows 10 install. I recently upgraded my storage and was able to clear off a 500GB SSD, and I decided this was the perfect opportunity to give a dual boot a try. There were certainly some hurdles to overcome. Initially I couldn’t get the installer to correctly setup the boot loader.

Blogging from my phone

SSH in from phone Well, I am attempting to blog from my phone, because that would be kind of cool to pull off. It’s obviously not the most ideal interface for this, but it is essentially working. And it’s pretty cool to have access to update from anywhere I have cell reception.

Still just goofing around with this

Some witty title Well, I’m still goofing around with this hugo stuff. Today I’m thinking about updating the theme I’m using to have a darker color pallete. I definitely like a darker pallete, especially since I tend to work with a very large monitor in a typically dimly lit room. Lighter colors end up making the monitor way to bright too look at for long periods of time.

Second Blog

This is the second blog. I wrote a simple bash script to help with deploying the site. Now I am just testing how well it works.

My First Post

This is it. This is content. So, this is my first attempt at building a hugo site served on my Raspberry Pi 4. I hope this goes well.
