Welcome to colindiem.com
So, as I mentioned in my previous post, I knew I was going to need to pick up a domain sooner or later. So I went ahead and did it! I may pick up some more in the future, I’m not sure. That will probably depend a lot on if I can figure out how to configure virtual hosts on apache. Or if I can figure out how to have a DNS record point to a port. Or maybe get a subdomain setup for my Gitea, that’d be cool. I dunno. I’m just beginning to dabble in this sysadmin stuff.
I did set up a working Nextcloud instance via Docker today, so that was pretty cool. It went pretty dang smoothly, which is the opposite of every other time I’ve tried to use Docker. The only issue I ran into is that the docker-compose I was using was supposed to setup SSL certs via Let’s Encrypt, but for some reason it doesn’t seem to have succeeded. Oh well. I’ll keep poking at it and maybe I’ll figure something out.
Over all the Docker experience has made me excited to do more with Docker. I’m already considering switching my Gitea installation over to Docker too.
I guess that’s all I’ve got for now. Good luck, and try to stay sane!
